Apologies for cross posting
***************************
The Policy Press have published two books related to childhood this month;
'Children, young people and social inclusion', edited by John Davis,
Malcolm Hill, Alan Prout and Kay Tisdall, and 'When children become
parents', edited by Anne Daguerre and Corinne Nativel. I think these titles
will be of interest to members of this list.
'Children, young people and social inclusion: Participation for what?' asks
how far and in what way social inclusion policies are meeting the needs and
rights of children and young people. The book critically examines the
concepts of participation and social inclusion and their links with
children and childhoods, exploring young people's own conceptualisations of
social inclusion and exclusion and examining how these concepts have been
expressed in policy at various levels. The book concludes with an agenda
for progressing participation and social inclusion, both for and with
children and young people. You can access further information about this
title on our website -

'When children become parents: Welfare state responses to teenage
pregnancy' looks at how teenage parenthood is recognised as a significant
disadvantage in western industrialised nations. The book explores, for the
first time, the links between welfare state provision and teenage
reproductive behaviour across a range of countries with differing welfare
regimes. Please find more information at
