Can someone please clarify the following.
While I can accept that the change from a cultural historical theory base
to that of processual archaeology can be viewed in terms of one of Kuhn's
`paradigm shifts', I am having difficulty in understanding whether or not
behavioural archaeology represents a similar shift, or should its
development be seen as an `evolutionary` process, or possibly even
regressive. An attempt to redress and `re-humanise` the cold scientific
approach of the `new archaeology` by re-emphasising the importance of the
material culture? Or am I completely off at a tangent on this one?
