Hello, Charmaine. I was interested to see the replies you had to your query
about housebound services. Just in case you or other people are not aware,
I published a directory 'Can't get to the Library? A directory of Public
Library Services in the United Kingdom to people in their own homes.' in
2004. Although obviously times move on, 154 library authorities responded
so you may well new contacts you can approach who haven't been able to
respond through the list.
Please let me know if you would like an order form.

Subject: Services for housebound users
Has anybody developed their services for housebound users beyond the
traditional methods of delivery?
Currently our services are delivered using volunteers to visit individuals
via WRVS. We offer a mobile library service to residential homes and our
courier also delivers preselected stock to residential homes.
An avenue to explore will be in partnership with social services:
Have you tried this?
How do you deliver the service?
If so what successes have you had?
What are the pitfuls?
Have you explored other means of delivering this service? If so what?
I will be happy to summarise any responses for the list.
Please reply to me directly.
Thankyou.
Charmaine Parkinson
