Hi all
I don't have time currently to add too much to this dialogue, which I warmly
identify with (have heard some wonderful metaphors used in describing the
educative/action research process, however, from gardening (used in my own
thesis) to midwifery/the birthing process!
However just briefly, the issue of ethics and insider research is a key
area, I think, when we're talking about how our work is judged by others and
how we judge it ourselves, seeking to remain true to our own ethical
standards come what may. And it often does come - as Jack and others,
myself included, can attest!
Readers may be interested in a paper on the Action Research International
journal, written by Rosalie Holian, in which she discusses just such issues
when doing action research in her own organisation. It's at
http://www.scu.edu.au/schools/gcm/ar/ari/p-rholian99.html
Kind regards
Pip
