WRITER'S BLOCK
Did Lyn Lifshin ever have writer's block?
Did she ever awaken to a blank paper
a blank screen
a blank soul?
Did it never not happen for her?
Did she find herself with nothing to say
with real life pressing in from the corners
crushing the heart from her?
Did life treat her so gently that
she never had a concern beyond
writing a poem about it?
Did you ever define Ambition as
getting into print in a journal
before Lyn Lifshin got there?
If so, you probably lost.
