Dear Bernard
I think you'll find that Sortridge Mine was situated between Horrabridge and
Grenofen in West Devon, about 4 miles South of Tavistock.

Subject: Sortridge Copper Mng.Co.Ltd
Dear All,
Does anyone know anything about the Sortridge Copper Mining Co.Ltd please?
I
know it was operating around 1882 - 85, but as to where it was I am stuck!
I know that H.Strachan and J.H.Murchison were Directors, and
J.Harrisonfourth(?), as Co.Secy. were involved. J.H.Murchison being the
brother of Sir
Roderick Impey Murchison of "Siluria" fame. JH was a 'prolific' Co.Secy.,
and his
services were very sought after and his name is frequently noticed, but it
is
interesting in this case that he is a Director and has signed as such.
There is every possibility this Co. operated in GB, but to date I cannot
find any specific ref., so any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards, Bernard
