medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
By strange coincidence (possibly not so strange as today is the anniversary
of the Battle of Hastings), today's ODNB's 'life of the day' is the man
postulated as the patron of the Bayeaux Tapestry in the book whose review MG
forwarded to the list: Heather Tanner's biography of Eustace (II) [Eustace
aux Gernons], count of Boulogne (d. c.1087), magnate. His wife, Ida of
Lorraine was regarded as a saint and was patroness of monastic reform.
