Given the issue mentioned below, I wanted to add and perhaps share with
you one other disaster issues of which I became sensitize to in the last
few weeks. The issue of man-made disasters "school shooting" became part of
my surounding.
That sensitization , made me painfully aware of, the dearth of existing
information; as well as the lack of attention paid to issue of disability
during the man-made disasters of "school shooting". For this reason I
wanted
to share what is probably one of the few articles on this issue.
I had tried to send in this e-mail with artcle attached but it did not make
it for technical reason,
so anyone wanting a copy please e-mail me directly .
If any of you are familiar with other documents on this issues let me know
I was surprise when I went looking for information, with objective that I
could help those disabled persons present at Dawson college on September,
13 to find only by chance that 2 of the Columbine shooting victims where
persons with disabilities. but very little information about preparedness
and other info. This event that was way too close to me sparked both
interest and anger, to the fact that again safety for persons with
disability is secondary to others and that so little attention is paid to
it.
Anyhow maybe some of you may want to do some more research on this so that
we can all be enlighten
