With apologies for cross-posting, the Subject Centre for History,
Classics and Archaeology would like to bring to your attention two
events on interest to all those interested in e-learning and the use and
creation of e-resources to support it. Both events include discussions.
The first also includes an advance notification of funding for case
studies and resource creation and the second an opportunity to define
the kind of resources you would like to have created (or would create
yourself if only you had the time/expertise).

As part of the Sharing the LOAD project, JISC Design for Learning
Programme, we are holding a series of one-day hands-on, engaging and
practical workshops focused on real-world learning designs and we invite
you and your colleagues to come and join us.
The workshops will be of interest to educators, developers, educational
technologists, IT and support staff, staff developers, administrators
and anyone with an interest in the pedagogical effectiveness of
e-learning. Importantly, we also invite students and offer bursaries of
£50 each (plus travel) to incentivise them.
The workshops are free of charge and we will refund your travel
expenses. Refreshments, lunch and all materials will be provided - you
need only bring your own interest and expertise. No technical knowledge
is required and the only computer we use is our laptop to demo learning
objects currently in use by RLO-CETL (The Centre for Excellence in
Reusable Learning Objects) and to present our work so far on the
pedagogical attributes of learning objects. There will be
plenty of time for group work, feedback and lively discussion as well as
learning design capture.
The intention is to identify two or three reusable learning designs that
generalise across subjects and that we can exemplify by developing
a small suite of learning objects. These will then be evaluated for
pedagogical effectiveness.
So it's free, it's fun, and you may even get some valuable e-learning
resources created out of the fruits of your labours. Do please publicise
this to anyone you think would like to attend.
Places are limited to 20 participants plus 5 students per workshop, so
book soon! We shall post this invitation out to the more general
lists later this week and expect them to fill up fairly quickly.
