hi crisis forum,
two thoughts :-
1. it's a good thing that people are finally waking up to the fact that
physics graduates have only two career paths ahead of them (apart from
accountancy and research) : the military or medicine. the decline in physics
has to be related to the fact that more young people are resisting working
for the military.
2. it's a bad thing that physics courses have not become more flexible -
evolving/adapted to the changing needs of graduates - how about physics
twinned with engineering ? physics twinned with
climatology/meteorology/geography ? physics twinned with manufacturing
chemistry ? physics twinned with energy production systems ?
contraction & convergence,
jo.
