I work in the North-west of England in a caseload group in the NHS. There
are 6 midwives, who carry varying caseloads depending on contracted hours
worked per week--full-time=36 women, 30 hours=30 women, 24hours=24 women. We
work in an area of high deprivation at present but will shortly be changin
how we work to cover a larger area, and taking the top 2% of women in
need--eg previous traumatic birth, domestic violence, mental health issues,
unsupported teenagers and assylum seekers.
Hope that helps,
Jill
