Dear Colleagues
Further to last week's email [below for reference] concerning
organisations looking *to be* partners or looking *for* partners in the
current JISC Capital Programme Call, we have had several responses in
the former category, and one in the latter category.
If your organisations would like to be sent the *looking to be partners*
list, please let me know.
If you did not respond to last week's email and now want to, ALT will
act on information received. If you do decide to respond it would be
helpful if you could do this before the end of Monday 16/10/2006.
Regards,
Seb Schmoller

re: JISC Capital Programme Circular 04/06 - a brokering service from
ALT, and some information about ALT's own position. Please pass this on
to relevant people in your organisation.
1. Brokering service from ALT
We are aware that member organisations which are considering leading
bids sometimes have difficulty in finding partners, and that sometimes
organisations which would be interested in partnering, but not leading,
can have difficulty ensuring that their interest is known.
If your organisation is in either category, ALT may be able to help you
as follows:
A. If you are looking *for partners* we can publicise this for you,
either naming your organisation, or giving only overview details, and
inviting member organisations that want to be put in touch with you to
tell ALT, whereupon we will pass their details on to you.
B. If you are looking *to be a partner*, we can publicise this for you,
either naming your organisation, or giving only overview details, and
inviting member organisations that want to contact you to tell ALT,
whereupon we will pass your details to them.
2. ALT's own position
Paragraph 5 of the JISC Circular 04/06 indicates that bids may be
developed with partnership arrangements developed "outside the sector".
ALT is in the fortunate position of being based in a University, with
its staff employed by that university, but is governed by elected
trustees, and reaches out to a broader base. ALT has over 700
individual, organisational and sponsoring members, widely distributed
between HE, FE, large and smaller commercial and charitable
organisations, and Government Agencies. Our aims are clearly stated at
http://www.alt.ac.uk/, and if you think that our involvement as a
partner would be of value to your bid, as well as contributing to ALT
meeting its aims, we will give careful consideration to any proposals
received.
In respect of either 1. or 2. above, please email me in the first
instance.
Yours sincerely,
Seb Schmoller
