Sorry, SV, the opportunity just presented itself....you know how fortunate you are. Oh--anyone who knows the correct term in context for "maledicta" will be much thanked
Legacy
It is not in words
unless maledicta are a legacy,
curses uttered at me--loser
my wife--bitch
at least one child--disrespectful
her husband--gambler and ass-chaser,
not to mention sisters, brother,
the God in whom she did not believe
but who was always on hand to torment her.
It was all in the eyes.
Not cat eyes: beautiless instead,
milky chintzy blue-white marbles
bought in Woolworth's and parked
in the appropriate sockets.
Basilisk eyes.
Once seen I would die.
Reborn she would kill me again.
Each morning I arose
took the basilisk stare for the day
died
went on my way
soul fled
still seeking.
