Hi Heather,
When I studied at university, students could access their folders and
move files using FTP software. This may be worth considering, although I
don't know how to set it up. It worked well for most people, and is
commonly used by the free website providers.
The method my employer uses for staff to access work from home involves
software called Nfuse. This opens a virtual machine on your desktop and
allows you to edit and save files using the College's own software. It
does not, as far as I am aware, allow you to transfer files between home
and work, which may make it unsuitable.
Hope this helps a little.
Regards,
Gary.

Subject: Network Storage via a VLE from home - HOW[Scanned]
Has anyone made their network storage (often referred to as home drives)
available to their learners when they are using a computer from home.
I'm sure I have seen it done somewhere. A link was put into their VLE
and
it caused what looked like windows explorer to open so that a person
could
just drag and drop files onto and off of their college network space.
We are keen to get this type of scenario working and wondered how other
people had done it and what pitfalls await us.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Heather
