italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
UNIVERSITY OF WALES, BANGOR
BANGOR
GWYNEDD
SIS BIANNUAL CONFERNCE
4-6 JULY 2007
• Members are invited to submit proposals for sessions to the Conference
Committee, either online, by e-mail, fax or post, by 1st Decmber 2006.
Session proposals should include a title, a brief description of the
focus or approach of the session, and full contact details for the
organizer. The list of proposed sessions will be put online and
circulated to members by 22 December 2006.
• Prospective speakers, who must be bona fide members of the SIS
(otherwise, please see ‘Membership of SIS’ below) should submit an
abstract (c. 250 words) to the session organizer by 18 January 2005, or,
in the instance of an individual paper, to the Conference Committee by
15 February 2005.
• In putting together a session, the organizer should select those
papers which address the stated goals of the session. Organizers should
respond promptly to prospective speakers, who, in the event of not being
accommodated in a particular session, should be given the opportunity to
submit an abstract for another session. Sessions should contain three
papers, each of 20 minutes, with 10 minutes allowed for discussion
following each paper (papers and sessions must respect these time
limits). If you receive four, five or six proposals which you would like
to include, a double session may be submitted to the Conference
organizer. Should you receive only one or two abstracts, please forward
them to the Conference organizer for possible inclusion elsewhere in the
programme. When submitting the session to the Conference organizer you
should also, where possible, identify a Chair for the session: if not
giving a paper themselves in the session, session organizers may act as
Chair. The completed session should be submitted to the Conference
Organizer no later than 16 February 2007. Speakers whose papers are
accepted are respectfully requested to register forthwith for the
conference and at the latest by 6 April 2007.
• The provisional programme will be put online at the beginning of April
2005, and although changes necessitated by forza maggiore will obviously
be accommodated, speakers should bear in mind the consequences of
withdrawal on a themed session.
