I would have thought that they would only need permission from a judge and
then only with sufficient evidence to warrant it. My opinion only and I
know of no site online where this info would be available. Maybe a call to
the CAB may help

All I can find is masses of stuff about mobile phones and driving, but what
I want to know is whether it is true that the police 'must' have permission
from the Home Office to bar/zap private phones. It is just I have a friend
who has had theirs apparently zapped by the Bill and has no network at all!
