Kelvin - I am very sorry to hear about this.
I worked at Silksworth Colliery, near Sunderland, where there were three
steam winding engines, the first one was made by Andrew Barclay, the second
by The Grange Iron Company, and the third one by Worsley Mesnes, all three
being scrapped in 1959 when two electric winding engines were installed.
It will be very sad if the Chatterley Whitfield winding engine is not preserved.
