Pocket Reference Journals, a medical publisher of health journals has just
published it's first journal in braille for the newly diagnosed blind
diabetic. It's written by an endocrinologist, certified diabetes educator,
and a registered dietitian.

medical publisher of pocket size health organizing journals has just
finishing it's first journal in braille The "My Pocket Doctor", a Diabetic
Reference Guide and Journal. It's written by an Endocrinologist, a CDE,
and a Registered Dietitian. It's bound to answer any questions that a
newly diagnosed diabetic would ask.
The primary purpose of this journal is to be a helpful tool for educating
the "newbie". It's a referral piece for information on disease terms, with
easy to read descriptions, and emergency I.D. card, including also
information on blood glucose testing, insulin facts, pills,new
medications,dining out,illness complications, as well as other such
important topics such as traveling, leisure, and exercise, smoking and
alcohol. In addition it also contains info on the ABC's of diabetes, a
food plan, and resources by phone and web.
Any braille reading diabetic that's just been informed that they have
diabetes should have this journal. It's 72 pages, and has been transcribed
into contracted braille. It's used not only by the blind but given out by
diabetes educators, endocrinologists, and dietitians, as well as used in
support groups, and as a helpful patient tool for enhancing self
management and independence skills for keeping in compliance.
