Hi All,
[Apologies to member of dc-date who have already seen this. I thought I may get advice from the wider DC community.]
I'm in the process of developing an application profile and need a couple of date qualifiers that are not currently in the DCMI terms list. I'm wondering if there is any possibility of including new date qualifiers and whether other application domains have needed these qualifiers. Also does anyone know of existing suitable qualifiers within other namespaces that I could use.
The dates I need to record are:
1. Date Received. The nearest DCMI date qualifier is dateSubmitted. But submission and receipt are not really the same, especially if there may be legal reasons why date of receipt is important. Eg. if something is submitted by post, it isn't received until the envelope is opened.
2. Date Completed. DCMI has 'issued', which I suppose is not too far off. I guess I could bend its definition in the application profile, but I'd prefer not to.
These dates sound to me like they'd be a fairly common requirement, especially when the time from receipt to completion is legally significant. The particular application I'm looking at is recording details of UK Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
Thanks for any advice.
Ann
