The big problem with mem2d is the licence for the memsys library,
which presumably expired with starlink. Does anyone at RAL have a copy of
the aggreement that was made with MEDC? Did it have an expiration date?
Otherwise, we could always contact them to see what we can and can't do
with memsys now. I notice the relevant section of SUN/117 says "The
software is only licensed by the terms of the above mentioned agreement
for use at Starlink nodes and United Kingdom Observatories." So maybe the
fact that Starlink is no more doesn't really matter.
Even if the aggrement does still stand, I doubt we would be able to
put memsys in CVS.
