There's a couple of data files at
ftp://andromeda.star.bris.ac.uk/pub/star/data/gaia/iphas/
grab them then do
% topcat -hub r368776_cat.fits#1
% gaia r368776.fit
and in TOPCAT select menu item Interop|Send table to ...|Send to gaia.
This should cause a catalogue window to pop up in GAIA, and markers
to be plotted over each of the identified objects in GAIA's image
window. That doesn't cover everything (I can give you a more
detailed test script on request) but if that works it's probably
operating properly.
