Dear Colleagues,
This post is still vacant at the NMM and is now being re-advertised.
COLLECTIONS TERMINOLOGY OFFICER
£20,000-£25,000 per annum * Two-year fixed-term contract * Greenwich
If you have proven experience of applying documentation standards, this is your opportunity to lead a significant project that will have a major impact on the Museum's future.
We need you to investigate, develop and implement a terminology programme that will deliver consistency across our extensive collection records. This is a key priority for the Museum right now. The work you do will underpin our ambitious collections programmes, as well as helping an ever-wider audience understand the importance of the sea, ships, time and the stars - and their relationship with people.
A central part of your role will be to liaise with colleagues at all levels across the organisation. Your challenge here is to pull together a number of perspectives to create a shared terminology strategy that achieves (and leads) best practice.
Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent, you'll bring substantial experience of electronic collections management in a museum or similar environment. A good knowledge of museum documentation and terminology standards is clearly important, along with outstanding communication and report writing skills.
