Dear all
In LibrariesWest we're considering extending the number of times customers can renew books without staff having to see the books. We've more or less decided that we don't want to extend this to A/V as we're concerned about customers running up huge debts by renewing remotely, and the impact on availability of stock, particularly in small collections. At present customers can only renew a book 3 times without staff seeing it but we're looking at extending this to 10, 20 or even umlimited unseen renewals (providing items haven't been reserved by other customers). Do any authorities have experience (good or bad) of doing this? And what is your current practice?
Happy to summarise for the list
Many thanks
Jon Scown
