Velo-city Newsletter No. 1
24th of July, 2006
Hep Monatzeder,
Mayor of the
City of Munich
Dear guests,
Greetings from Munich!
The World Cup football championship has come to an end. It was a great
event that both hosts and guests enjoyed immensely. The motto of the
FIFA World Cup, the world as a guest of friends, became a reality -
Germany enjoyed being an international host.
On behalf of Germany, Munich would also like to be an international host
for all friends and sponsors of cycling from 12.-15.06.2007: I am thus
delighted to be able to present the first newsletter of Velo-city 2007.
Our Velo-city 2007 team is working intensively to be able to offer you
an attractive international conference on cycling.
Since we launched our Second Announcement - Call for Papers, we have
been receiving new contributions on a daily basis from potential
speakers who would like to report to Velo-city 2007 about their
experiences in the area of bicycle transport promotion.
This development is a source of great pleasure for us and also fills us
with pride that we will host this international reknowned conference in
2007.
The deadline for the submission of papers is coming up soon, we would
therefore like to remind you to send us your presentation proposals by
Friday, 11.08.2006.
Velo-city 2007 will discuss all facets of bicycle transport promotion
and would like to illuminate paths for a sustainable mobility by
demonstrating successful strategies and best practices. We are thus
delighted to receive successful contributions under the four umbrella
themes of Quality of Life, Employment Market, Health, and Urban and
Regional Planning on all facets of bicycle tranport promotion, like, for
example,
* Systematic planning concepts,
* Strategies for the systematic realisation of bicycle transport
networks,
* Successful examples of intermodality through the improvement of
bus and train interfaces (bike&ride),
* New research results on secure bicycle transport routing,
* Concepts for quality assurance of bicycle transport promotion,
* Innovative and successful service elements,
* Successful advertisting and communication strategies,
* Campagnes for the mobility education of children and youth,
* Bicycle tourism,
* Sportcycling as a marketing strategy for the promotion of
bicycle transport.
Velo-city 2007 is constantly developing - and you are the propelling
force behind this!
Please help us to spread the invitation to Velo-city 2007: kindly
forward the Velo-city 2007-Newsletter to your network!
All necessary information about the Call for Papers is also available on
www.velo-city2007.com <http://www.velo-city2007.com/> .

I look forward to welcoming you to Munich.
Yours truly,
