Andrew, I haven't attacked you personally so I think your characterising me
as child unfriendly was inappropriate, don't you? As a father and grandfather
I'm not, but i do know something of children, both personally and
professionally and in my judgement encouraging hundreds of children to get metal
detectors, with or without an explanatory leaflet is not wise. You have said
nothing to dissuade me -or others i suspect - that that's not a sound view. I'm
gratified however that you've acknowledged to Rob that just maybe PAS didn't
entirely get this exercise right. That's something, at least.
As for David, your repetitive characterising me as some sort of unrealistic
heritage zealot merely because I have the temerity to regret damage says
nothing impressive. I am content to have laid out a rational case and for others
to have taken note that you haven't made a rational refutation, merely some
personal attacks in lieu. Absence of a rational refutation is evidence of none
being available, I hazard to suggest. Let the record speak for itself.
