VMware also sells a commercial versions As does Parallels. BTW Microsoft's
Virtual PC is pretty ancient. They just established a relationship with Xen
(an open source virtualization project whose software is bundled with Linux
distros like SUSE) to redevelop their existing technology. There are a lot
of companies involved that's why some of the software is now free.
Virtualization is hot, particularly on servers, and everyone is trying to
establish themselves as the market leader. It's also being driven by new
mutlicore CPUs that often support virtualization in hardware.
