Actually, someone has; time was I could have told you without having
to look it up.

OK, Philip Horne's bibliography, which goes up to 1984, lists these:
Gordon Crosse, "For the Unfallen Op. 9" (settings for tenor voice,
solo French horn and string orchestra of four poems by Geoffrey Hill):
'Merlin', 'In Memory of Jane Frazer' (sic), 'Requiem for the
Plantagenet Kings', 'In Piam Memoriam'. Oxford. (No date: first
performance 17 September 1968).
James Brown (no, not *that* James Brown), 'Cantata: Ad Incensum
Lucernae' (to text by Geoffrey Hill), first performed at University of
Leeds Department of Music Spring Concerts, 5 February 1975.
Robin Holloway, "The Lovers' Well, Op. 49" (partial setting for
baritone and piano of 'The Pentecost Castle' sections
1,2,3,5,6,11,13,14,15). Composed 1981, performed April 1984 in
Emmanuel College 400th anniversary celebrations.
Doubtless there have been others since. Personally I'd like to see
Harrison Birtwhistle have a go at some of the later stuff.
