Big Lottery Fund has launched Stepping Stones, a programme that provides
funding for people to develop the life skills that will help them to manage
their lives and contribute to their communities or to re-engage in learning,
volunteering or employment. Stepping Stones will support local and regional
projects or ones that work throughout Wales. We will fund projects that take
a strategic and innovative approach to achieve three or more of the
following changes:
* People with improved self-confidence and life skills.
* People taking up further learning or employment opportunities
* People equipped to better manage life challenges and transitions.
* People volunteering and contributing to their communities.
Stepping Stones will give grants of between £250,000 and £1 million, up to
5% of which can be for capital costs. Projects can be funded for between
three and five years.
This is a two stage application process. The final deadline for receiving
completed Stage One application forms is 5.00pm on Friday 29 September 2006.
Only projects successful at Stage One will be invited to move on and apply
to Stage Two.
