Subject: Call for Consultants
Glamorgan Record Office has received grant funding from CyMAL for a number
of
projects. We wish to appoint consultants to carry out work on the following
4
projects
Community Archives in Glamorgan
The project aims to foster interest in community archives and provide
resources
to support the growth of sustainable community archives in the region (City
and
County of Cardiff, County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr
Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taff and the Vale of Glamorgan)
Travelling Exhibitions
As part of part of a project to market services and broaden audiences, a
consultant is required to prepare exhibitions illustrating sources for house
history and conservation work, which will accompany films of staff talking
on
these themes.
Educational CD-Rom on the Tonypandy Riots and Penrhyn Quarry Strike
This project is a pioneering partnership between Glamorgan Record Office and
Gwynedd Archives Service to produce an electronic educational resource for
secondary schools in the form of a CD-Rom and accompanying worksheets. The
topics chosen, the Tonypandy Riots of 1910-1911 and the Penrhyn Quarry
Strike of
1900-1903, represent aspects of the industrial history of Wales. Both
topics
are studied throughout Wales and also by some schools in England.
From the Valleys to the Steppes: Opening up the Hughesovka Research Archive
This project involves the development of an online resource for educational
and
other users based on the Hughesovka Research Archive (HRA). The completion
of
the HRA catalogue is an essetial first step in improving its general
accessibility to searchroom users.
