From Iter italicum (only) for the Bibl. nazionale in Turin:
"The lists of the mss. preserved after the fire of 1904 that were
published in Mazzatinti 28 and in the Rivista di Filologia 32 were
subsequently supplemented by G. Vinay, Aevum 21, 1947, 209-232. Since
Vinay's list is not indexed, I should like to list the relevant mss.
given by him."
"This collection is completely, though not always adequately, described
in printed catalogues. The old nucleus is fairly well described by J.
Pasinus, Codices manuscripti Bibliothecue Regii Taurinensis Athenaei (2
voIs., Turin, 1749), but he fails to give the valid shelf marks which
were introduced at a later date. Between 1749 and 1904, numerous mss.
were added to the collection and described in a handwritten inventory.
When a fire broke out in the library in 1904, it destroyed or damaged a
sizeable part of the mss., and the water needed to extinguish the fire
further increased the damage. This disaster, the worst of its kind that
has hit any Italian library in recent times, also destroyed the
handwritten inventory which alone contained a complete description of
the mss. owned by the library before the war. After the fire, the
preserved mss. that were either intact or but lightly damaged were
identified whereas the more seriously damaged mss. have been gradually
repaired, a process that is still continuing. However, a number of mss.
is damaged beyond the hope of repair. Of the mss. preserved after the
fire, several catalogues have been published: E. Stampini, G. De
Sanctis, C. Cipolla and C. Frati, "Inventario dei codici superstiti
greci e latini antichi della Biblioteca Nazionale di Torino", Rivista di
filologia XXXII (1904) 385-588; Mazzatinti, Inventari XXVIII (1922-24;
he covers also the late and the Italian mss.). G. Vinay, "Contributo
alla identificazione di alcuni manoseritti frammentari della Nazionale
di Torino", Aevum XXI (1947) 209-32. For the Italian mss., there is a
complete catalogue of all mss. owned by the library before 1904: B.
Peyron. Codices Italici manu exarati qui in Bibliotheca Taurinensis
Athenaei ante diem XXVI Januarii MCMIV asservabantur, ed. C. Frati
(Turin, 1904). There is no comparable record for the Latin mss. lost in
1904 and not described by Pasini. However, at least a part of them is
listed in a ms. volume entitled Appendice al Pasini. It is arranged by
languages and alphabetically, and does give the valid shelf marks. I
noted in it the following relevant mss. which are apparently lost:"

Does anyone know of a publication that lists the mss destroyed in the
Turin
fire of 1904? I'm trying to track down a ms listed in the Analecta
Hymnica
as Turin ms. 143 (published prior to 1904). I contacted the University
library, and they said it wasn't theirs. I imagine it might have been
destroyed, but as far as I can figure there are several other libraries
in
Turin - including the Biblioteca Reale di Torino.
In sum, I don't really know what "Torino 134" means in the AH, and
whether
this ms still exists. Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks
