italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Call for papers: Dante's Heaven of the Fixed Stars
Session at the International Medieval Congress, Leeds, UK
9-12 July 2007
This session will examine the episode of the Heaven of the Fixed Stars
in Dante's Paradiso. Our intention is to bring together a range of
methodological approaches and thematic concerns. Each of the papers
presented should, however, discuss the episode as a whole. Papers will
last 20 minutes.
In 2007 there will be at least one other Dante session at the IMC,
organised by colleagues on the topic of Dante and the Florentines.
The International Medieval Congress is organised and administered by the
Institute for Medieval Studies (IMS). Since its start in 1994, the
conference has established itself as an annual event with an attendance
of over 1,300 medievalists from all over the world. It is the largest
conference of its kind in Europe. For more information on the Congress
please visit http://www.leeds.ac.uk/ims/imc/index.html.
Please submit paper proposals of 200 words to the session organisers,
Matthew Treherne (University of Leeds; [log in to unmask]) and
Vittorio Montemaggi (University of Cambridge; [log in to unmask]), by 20
September 2006. Please also supply details of institutional affiliation,
address and audio-visual equipment required.
