Consumer Culture in a Virtual Environment: Expectations, Transactions
and Relationships in E-Commerce

Three-year funded PhD studentship from October 2006 jointly funded by
the Faculty of Maths and Computing and the Business School of the Open
University (OU). You will join the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
group in the Department of Computing of the OU. The project's advisory
panel has three industrial collaborators.
The aim of the on-going e-commerce research programme is to explore
relationship between customer behaviours, perceptions, rationale for
behaviour, and evaluation of the consumption experience. This
studentship-project focuses on the analyses of the interactions between
social, organisational, and individual factors, and their relative
effects on initial customer decision-making, conduct of business, and
relationship development with e-commerce environments. Informal

You should have a Masters Degree in HCI, Psychology, Social Sciences, or
a related discipline, and have an outstanding research potential and a
keen interest in Usability and Consumer Behaviour.
