Had the same thoughts and a clean build of just RC1 did not work.   
Also a clean build of B4 upgraded to RC1 failed the same way.

Ditto, been cleaning these up by hand as there was no un-installer  
before RC1

Could I trouble you or anybody else on the list for details on
    are you using custom resolutions in Parallels ?
    a list or the OPENSTEP drivers you have installed and the order  
of them ?
or the bandwidth to
    make a working image available which we can ftp/download

Looking forward to retiring multiple screens/keyboard/mice and  
running OpenStep, Windows & Mac OS X all on one desktop with one  
keyboard and one mouse :-}
