IPSV = Subject based Metadata for Internet Sites
LGCS = Classification Scheme for Records Management
You can use LGCS for Intranets but it is not recommended for internets
It is intended to map LGCS to IPSV to enable linkages to occur between
records and content. This should be completed in August.
Thus LGCS is good for Records Management
IPSV is good for Internets
See also esd toolkit web site which carries an article what are all
these lists? A simple search should find it, if not email me and I will
find the link

Subject: LGSL, LGCS or IPSV?
Please help the confused!
Can anyone explain what the difference is between the Local Govt Service
List, the Local Govt Classification Scheme and the Integrated Public
Service Vocabulary?
Our website is being upgraded and will use IPSV as the basis for
organising
the information, but I understand that the RMS is working on revised
retention schedules linked to the LGCS. I need to establish a
classification scheme for the possibility of implementing EDRMS and
don't
know which list would be best to use. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Julie Gibbs
