Fiona,
Have you tried Tabachnick and Fidell "Using Multivariate Statistics". If
you can get your hands on the fourth edition, there is an excellent concise
guide to multivariate statistical techniques (chapter 2) with a decision
tree to conclude. It's an extremely good reference to multivariate data
analysis and should be able to assist you with the whole process!
