Thanks to everyone who completed the clinical prediction rules pilot
survey. We plan to do some larger surveys following this but here is a
brief preliminary summary of the results.
40 people replied; with 1/2 being family practice or internal medicine.
The most used CPGs were:
1. Framingham risk score (45% use regularly)
2. MiniMental State (38% use regularly)
3. Ottawa ankle rules (28% use regularly)
4. Strep throat rules (22% use regularly)
5. Wells DVT rules (20% use regularly)
For most cases, even when the rule was relevant to their practice and
people were aware of it they didn't use it.
When they did use it, 58% used computer versions, 38% memorised them,
and 28% used a paper rule (note > 100% as multiple ticks possible).
