Hello,
I would like to invite women with physical disabilities to participate in a ground-breaking
research project focusing on the needs of disabled women. The goal of this research is to
learn if personal assistance services (PAS) helps or hinders physically disabled women to meet
their needs for sexual expression. Very little is known about the needs of disabled women and
as a consequence, they are ignored, misunderstood, and routinely denied access to equal participation.
As a researcher with disabilities, I am acutely aware of the barriers that serve to exclude the disabled from
participating in many aspects of everyday life, barriers that limit our opportunities, and, worst of all, limit our
conceptions of who we are, and the quality of life we deserve. Participation in this research will not
only contribute significantly to the growing body of research in the field of disability studies, it may benefit
countless others who are not able to give voice to their concerns and needs.
If you would like to participate in this important work or know of others who would be interested,
Email [log in to unmask] . Because the study would only be permitted 'anonymous',
an "Information Sheet" for completing the survey either online or via U. S. Mail will be provided. To ensure
anonymity I must immediately destroy or permanently delete your contact information after our initial communication.
I will be happy to answer any questions you have. Additionally I will arrange for consumers to complete the
questionnaire at their convenience.
Thank you for your interest. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Marlene
