Three presenters will demonstrate how computer games are being developed
and used in education (covering topics such as key skills assessment) and
also as tools for widening participation. The workshop will feature case
studies and feedback from students.

… a survey of UK HE and FE Institutions to assess current readiness to
adopt services and resources made available by the developing Information
Environment (IE). Information gathered by this survey will be critical in

3.3 South Yorkshire e-Learning Programme: Provision of an e-portfolio and
associated services.
Sheffield City Council, acting on behalf of itself and Barnsley MBC,
Doncaster BC and Rotherham BC, invites expressions of interest from
suitably qualified organisations with a good track record of providing an
e-portfolio and associated services to learners of all ages 10-63, to be
integrated into online learning tools and services being developed by the

5.7 SURVEY LXP PROJECT
The UK e-learning research centre (eLRC) based at the HE Academy and the
Universities of Manchester and Southampton, is carrying out research into

5.8 EDEN survey: e-Learning and internationalisation of education and
training
The survey is being conducted as part of the HELIOS project, co-funded by
the European Commission, aimed at establishing a sustainable observation
platform for monitoring the development of e-Learning in Europe in
relation to policy objectives and at generating scenarios of e-Learning
in future years.

The E-mentor course introduces the skills and knowledge that mentors need
to be effective in the mentoring role, and explores how modern
technologies can enhance that role.

7. Project partners sought
7.1 Virtual Ward
The University of Central England, Faculty of Health, seeks a number of
evaluation and review partners to contribute to the development of a
multimedia resource that aims to enhance problem solving and patient
assessment skills in health care students and qualified staff. The
software, currently called the Virtual Ward, consists of an open-ended
learning environment that depicts a number of patient cases.
As a review partner you will be asked to provide constructive feedback on
the software in terms of its functionality, accessibility and future
development as well as its potential to be used as a learning tool in
your area of work.
