Main Theme: Global and Local Dialogues in the Humanities
The Humanities Conference is attended and supported by delegates who wish to
share knowledge and to learn from the experience of others on an
international level. The 2006 event will bring together some of the world's
leading thinkers and practitioners in the humanities field.
Main speakers include:
Tariq Ali: Novelist, historian and political campaigner
Bassam Tibi: Professor of International Relations in Goettingen and also
A.D. White Professor at Large in Cornell.
Kate Soper: Professor of Philosophy, ISET (Institute for the Study of
European Transformations), London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
Tom Nairn: Professor of Nationalism and Cultural Diversity, Globalism
Research Institute, RMIT University, Melbourne.
Joan Copjec: Professor, Departments of English and Comparative Literature,
and Director, Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Culture, (The State
University of New York) SUNY Buffalo.
