Subject: Colin Revell:- 'nothing about us', without us', but 'not at ERYC,
Why?
12/5/06
Dear Greg Hipkiss, ERYC Social Worker
cc DJ Besford and Graham Stuart MP, to all Hull City Councillors and
Coun.Parnaby and Coun. Rowan Blake James, at ERYC who I will ask to
disseminate this email to others. I have no email addresses for both Coun.
Glew and Harrison(HCC) and all others within ERYC et al...
I have just been into ERYC's County Hall, after a few months of waiting for
various officers and County Councillors to respond to all my concerns and
complaints, which I never receive any replies at all in what ever format I
contact them, in which I have discussed with Graham Sturat MP and other MP's
in my case.
Again, today, there is no changes into this continued discriminatory
'disablist' attitudes and behaviour in my case and basic huam rights abuses
and violation against myself, especially when I try and make appoitments as
disabled 'litigant-in-person' with ERYC's legal team etc.. especially around
accessing all my files and data and enquiring about all my complaints.
I have recorded on my mobile what went on for Distric Judge Besford.
I also went in to make enquiries about Council and other groups I want to be
included in and especially the 'Joint' ERYC and Hull City Council Health
and Social Services 'Overview and Scrunity' Committee.
I am not treated with these same discriminatory 'disablist' attitudes and
abuse when I go into the Guildhall to ask the same questions and equiries to
all Officers and Councillors within Hull City Council, so why do I continue
to experiece all this abuse when I enter County Hall, or any other public
building within the East Riding of Yorkshire Council?
Hull City Officers and County Councillors, especially Councillors Glew and
Harrison have always made me feel very welcomed when I go to Guildhall and
always respond to my concerns and complaints and ring me within a
'reasonable-time' and they have good understanding of 'inclusion'.
HCC even have a Disabity Equalities Officer(DEO) and Disability focus group,
in which ERYC don't. Why?
I have asked numerous questions and expressed my concerns and complaints to
various officers and County Councillors within Hull City Council, but the
don't 'abuse' my basic human and civil liberities and 'exclude' my disabled
'neurodiverse' voice for 'speaking-out'!!
Could not East Riding of Yorkshire Council 'learn-the-lessons' and be
educated by it's 'poorer' (on socio-economic grounds) neigbours at Hull City
Council how to 'include' autistic/neurodiverse and all other disabled
people?
David Glenister and I had the meeting with Graham Stuart MP and he's talking
with Don Rhodes, ERYC Head of Adult Care this afternoon about my case. The
meeting with my MP was very positive.
Why can't my experiences be the same when I enter all ERYC public-buildings
instead of me experiencing all this continued abuse and disability
discrimination all the time ?
Have not ERYC got around the local, national and international legal
protocols around 'inclusion' and especially 'nothing about us, without us'
yet?
Yes, I do want to continue with my studies at University of Lincoln and the
City and Guilds 7407 .
course.
Yours Sincerely
Colin Revell, BA Social Sciences, Dip Community and Youth Work, NEBSM,
NACAB, City and Guilds and local(Hull and E.Riding), National, and Global(UN
Disability Convention) autistic/neurodiverse 'user-led' campaigner
(activist), educator, advisor, survivor, (peer) advocate and reseracher
within disabled people's(disability), inclusion, independent living,
neurodiversity and mental health survivors movements
