Yes! Of course, the Arma Christi -among them the column- are a
widespread medieval iconography. But, until Baroque times, the column
was taller. When in the 17th c (?) appeared what was thought the
"real" flagellation column, its size and shape changed: shorter and
with entasis. And your column brings to mind the Baroque ones. But,
obviously, I may be wrong...
