medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
The Hunt Museum in Limerick has a fine maiolica pharmacy jar whose handles
are sea horses. It is c. 1560 and is probably from the Florence area. It
is definitely from a Franciscan monastery. The sea horse image could well
have been found in other foundation of that order. If you look up the
museum website, the catalogue number is HCM 293. Grace Cantillon.
