They are in the tiny church of St Levan in west Cornwall, which was a
dependent chapelry until 1864. They are 1520-40 or so. At that time I doubt there
was anyone armigerous in the locality, but it is possible. They don't look
like arms: they are strictly symmetrical about the vertical, facing outward,
and very gorgeous in detailed oak carving. Most of the other equivalent
decoration (there are a dozen in all) feature stylized plants, and I don't think
there are any other seahorses in the place.
