You might also find some interesting bits in a recent paper by Kjartan
Sælensminde; Transportation Research Part A, 38 (2004) pp 593–606;
"Cost–benefit analyses of walking and cycling track networks taking into
account insecurity, health effects and external costs of motorized traffic".
In this the effects of risk perception ("barrier costs") and changes in risk
perception are quantified in terms of the economic payback of constructing
cycle infrastructure.

Subject: Cycling risk
Hello this is an ammended post.
Thanks to those people who have contacted me with support.
However, I was mindful of the dreadful spelling mistakes in the posting!
I am a Transport Planning student and keen cyclist. I plan to carry out a
quantitative research dissertation on cycling risk and perception of
cycling risk on the Cardiff road network. I will survey as broad a
spectrum of cycling groups as possible. Does anyone have specific
knowledge in this field or has anybody actually created a questionnaire to
capture this data. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
regards
Richard
