so is there anything practical I can actually do to get round this? I still
don't understand why it started happening with the new release.

ps I just tried making a random project on one of our other linux boxes to
see if they have the same problems (they have red hat enterprise not FC3)
and just to add to the fun I got this bizarre looking traceback after
selecting a few peaks and then trying to literally just click on one of them
