CIRM 2006:
Destinations and Locations: Exploring the Multiple Identities of Place

The conference is being organised jointly by MMU Business School and the University's Institute for Culture, Gender and the City.
CALL FOR PAPERS: EXTENDED DEADLINE
Submissions are invited from academics and practitioners in marketing, retailing, planning, regeneration, place management and geography for papers related (but not restricted) to the following topics:
● place marketing and management
● branding
● destination marketing and tourism
● regeneration
● community development
● neighbourhood renewal
● gentrification
● socio-cultural impacts of place branding and marketing
Papers, in the first instance, should take the form of an abstract of 250 words. These should be emailed to Dr David Bennison, Conference Chair ([log in to unmask]) by Monday, May 8th, 2006. Authors will be informed of acceptance by Monday 15th May, 2006.
Abstracts are accepted on the condition that the work has not been copyrighted, published, presented or accepted for presentation at any other professional meeting. In order to have papers or abstracts included in the proceedings, one author from each submission must register with payment by the 11th August, 2006, and attend the conference.
The deadline for final submission of papers (maximum 5 pages, single spaced) for the Proceedings will be July 31st. However, to encourage submission from a wide spectrum of contributors, full papers will not be required for participation, and abstracts alone will be published in such cases.
Fees: Presenters / contributors: £165 (if paid by Aug.11th, 2006)
Doctoral students: £130
Standard: £215
The fee includes a conference pack with Proceedings, two buffet lunches, refreshments, drinks reception and dinner at the Lowry Centre, and an optional excursion. Overnight accommodation is not included, but special rates will be available to delegates at conveniently located hotels in the city centre.
Place Branding, a peer-reviewed journal of branding and marketing for national, regional and civic development, will be represented at the Conference. Contributors will be welcome to take the opportunity to discuss the possible submission of a paper to the journal with its Publishing Editor, Brenda Rouse.
