form and program) on the 2006 Development Studies Association and 
Development Areas Research Students Study Groups joint workshop to be held 
at the Unversity of Department of Geography, The Unversity of Liverpool, to 
staff and postgraduate students in your respective institutions. A

Development Studies Association of UK and Ireland (DSA) and Development 
Areas Research Study Group
 Annual Postgraduate Students Workshop
Theme: Rigour and Originality in Advanced Development Studies Research

Date Wednesday 31st May and Thursday 1st June 2006
Time: Wednesday: 11.30am - 4.30pm
                 5pm - 8.30 - Conference Buffet Dinner
Thursday:        9.30 am - 5pm
Venue: Department of Geography, Roxby Building, The University of 
Liverpool, Liverpool.

Participation:
The workshop is open to all postgraduate research and dissertation student 
members of the DSA and DARG(PhD, DPhil, MPhil, MRes, MA, MSc etc.) involved 
in development studies and research for implementation of some development 
focus. New members are very welcome. Institutions and organisations are 
strongly encouraged to sponsor student members to attend this workshop. See 
detailed program on page 3 the of attached workshop document.

Presentations:
All participants are encouraged to prepare posters on their theses and 
dissertations for a presentation.

Registration Fee:
Participants are expected to pay £50, which covers training materials, 
breakfast, lunch, coffee and biscuits for the two days and one night 
accommodation (Wednesday night). Payment should be in the form of cheques/ 
postal orders/ bankers draft (only), and made payable to the University of 
Liverpool. Payments should be attached to completed application forms (see 
page 2) and sent to: Dr. Joseph Assan, Department of Geography, The 
University of Liverpool, Roxby Building,
Liverpool, L69 7ZT.

Accommodation:
Accommodation facilities are already booked by organisers so participants 
do not need to arrange for their individual accommodation. Selection is 
strictly upon submission of payment with completed application forms. This 
is also on a first come first served basis. Registration dead line is 7th 
May 2006.

Travel Bursaries:
The organisers have made available travel bursaries to cover travel cost 
(standard train and coach fares) of selected student participant's resident 
outside Merseyside. Maximum support payable to an individual participant 
would be £45 upon submission of full receipts. Payment above this threshold 
is subject to prior approval.
