Dear People,
I just joined this list. I am a psychotherapy trainer with a strong
interest in Mindfulness-based approaches to counselling. I'd be
interested to discuss this growing new area of counselling and
psychotherapy. If any one is interested in new trainings that
incorporate mindfulness, below are details of our trainings in May. They
are both very new approaches that seem to be catching on fast.
Best wishes,
Henry Whitfield MSc

A Brief Description of TIR :
Basic TIR is a mindfulness-oriented exposure method for enabling a
client to let go of their past traumatic experiences. This is learnt
through the practice of repetitive exercises. The broader subject of TIR
can be described as a theoretically consistent collection of counselling
tools, designed to respond to many different needs and situations. Most
of these tools are closely in line with the concept of mindfulness or
equanimity *. The Basic TIR technique also responds to how traumatic
experiences 'network', and enables the client to contact other less
obviously related incidents that can be complicit in the maintenance of
trauma symptoms.

The 'Basic TIR workshop' is the first module of Level 1 TIR Certificate
training. TIR is best known for its effectiveness at permanently
reducing the symptoms of PTSD and other trauma related conditions. The
second module can be completed 10th June at our offices in Kennington.
* Equanimity is the ability to remain unperturbed by an event
experienced within the framework of one’s own body and thoughts as a
result of objective observation. This implies that unless one is aware
of an actual (internal) experience, one cannot be equanimous towards it.
Thus defined, equanimity relies on awareness of one’s thoughts and body
sensations (Cayoun, 2003).

Testimonials
"I am very impressed with the TIR model and it is something I will
continue to pursue." Mike Fisher, Director of British Association of
Anger Management (Graduate of TIR level 1 training)
"I continue to be amazed by the power and simplicity of TIR. Did a
session with a client last week...all the usual symptoms, nightmares,
avoidance, couldn't talk/think about the incident without crying. This
week, feeling much better, can talk about what happened without getting
upset, no nightmares!! I wish I'd known about TIR years ago." Pauline
Brumwell MAHPP, Counselling Manager, UKRC Registered.
"I am qualified social worker and have been a therapist for over 21
years and hold Certificates in NLP (Master Practitioner), Ericksonian
Hypnotherapy, Time Line Therapy and some of the Meridian therapies (EFT,
TAT & EMOtrance), and from this perspective conclude that TIR is a truly
special and effective therapy. I have only been using TIR for a
relatively short time and never before have my clients had such reliable
successes in resolving many kinds of presenting problems. I have had
sessions of TIR myself as a client and had dramatic personal results,
even though up to now I have considered that therapies don't seem to
work on me. TIR comprises simple elegant techniques which empower
clients to accomplish the changes they want, facilitated by their own
innate resources and natural leaning towards self fulfillment. I only
wish I had found TIR many years ago." Julie de Burgh. Qualified Social
worker, Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist
