Speak for yourself. 30 minute standard response time by the on call consultant is unacceptable. 10- 15 minute response time is acceptable (and often gets you there before resident people in other specialities) if you keep fairly wide indications for coming in, don't mess about talking on the phone before you go and have a team who can do the basics and get things ready while you come in.
