medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
-----
Marjorie, Why do you make me have to try to think, when I am still waking up,
and sipping my morning coffee, and my brain is not even awake?
I think the idea you mentioned is probably based in St. Cyprian. Take a look
at your Migne, and find St. Cyprian's De Dom. orat 9: Patrilogia Latina 4,
525a".
Priests, being Christians, and moreover standing at his table in his stead, as
well as administering his other Sacraments in his stead, should be more
engaged Christians, to whom the application of "christianus alter Christus"
should pertain in spades.
Cheers,
Terrill
